The inner bark of the Vilcacora vine from the Amazon rainforest significantly strengthens the immune system and increases natural defences. It contributes to the normal condition of joints, tendons and connective tissues, including the skin. According to legend, the effects of the revered liana were discovered when indigenous people observed an injured jaguar scraping the bark of the liana and licking its sap, after which it recovered very quickly. The liana has thorns similar to claws, hence the name "Cat's Claw".
